When do you adjust your cycles?

I am going to start my first cycle monday. I was curious as to when you guys make your adjustments between cycles? If I am going to add diff. exercises to my second cycle, when do I find my maxes for the new lifts? And when keeping certain exercises, how do you determine your new * rep maxes?
Sorry if I'm gettin' ahead of myself, I just like to think of these things ahead of time.
I usually add new exercises during the 5's. That way stuff is already heavy, and testing new maxes won't condition your muscles to make the training ineffective.
