Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Awesome, yep that makes sense for sure, thanks for that. I guess I was moreso wondering about going to failure or close to failure as a necessity. To me it seems like it's more about that there definitely has to be some sort of strain/stress involved, on some level at least, and that is...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

YES it's bizarre hey haha... and I guess that be a result of a few different things, like it was growth catchup from the heavy period, or a result of density-style training and the metabolic stress pathway to growth was activated... I think it's the latter. But amazing that you can go from heavy...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

And yes, sorry here's another comment from me (am enjoying this discussion very much by the way :) ), I think within all this it's safe to say, there is a certain threshold that is relatively different for everyone. Surpassing that threshold is what spurs on growth. So hence why HST is a set of...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Yes I think so, with the appropriate volume using that load. So the load increase is dependent on the current condition of the tissue, and the volume requirement also is. There's only really been some relatively vague answers from the studies as to how much volume.. as it's just too hard to peg...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Hmm.. something makes sense here, but also it doesn't haha. Surely it's not only the prerequisitie that a muscle fibres cannot produce the force that it needs to to be the only requirement for growth and the only thing which causes that strain... (unless you're just describing that mechanism of...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Ahhhh I think I see what you're saying here.... But that's the thing I'm not 100% convinced we need to achieve maximum activation (or is that recruitment...) for it be an effective workout, but simply an exposure to a higher level of stress than before. Hence why in HST we spend time in submax...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Ah very well said :). Yeah no particular load, rep-range or parameter is 'the' golden ticket. It comes down to the conditioning of the tissue at the time, which then shows this whole thing is more of a bigger continuum and range. And the perceived stress is what spurs on further adaptions. Over...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Okay, am still reading through the responses haha but it's been riveting so far guys! Yeah I love this stuff too, and even though I don't get right down to really fine details at the cellular level I still find it fascinating. This is actually a really fascinating way of understanding it...

    Pea Protein Isolate!

Yeah now that you mention it I just found 5kg of WPC for $84, and that's flavoured, the unflavoured is cheaper. So that's not much more than the cheapest pea protein I found. I used to buy whey in 5kg lots, so this may be an option if it's not much more than pea protein :). Cheers

    Pea Protein Isolate!

Yeah good points, cheers fellas, just protein is one thing I don't get enough of with all the myriad of different training I do, and this seemed a cheaper alternative for me at the moment.

    Pea Protein Isolate!

Ugggh.... Haha yeah that would be tough to down.. fair enough! I could add a boatload of choc syrup or something but still may not go down well, chew my way through it... I still wonder about its effectiveness nutritionwise and if it still "counts". May have to do a bit of research..

    Pea Protein Isolate!

Anyone had any experience with this supplement? Am just noting how incredibly cheap I've found it compared to whey protein... just wondering if it's still a viable source of protein and that's its actually going to be metabolised as protein in the body haha. I know there are debates on complete...

20 Breathing Reps For All Exercises

This is something I've always wondered as well, but that makes sense what O&G said. To me TUT used to be about constant tension on the muscle (the ol 40-70s), but I guess what principles like myoreps employ is that the overall time under tension occurs with a higher percentage of them being...

Awesome, good to hear! I love the 10s! I've toned down my training a little only just recently, and going through a rehab/prehab/flexibility/mobility phase just to address any injuries and imbalances (my wrist and knee are shocking at the moment), but you've inspired me I may do a fairly...

Hmm, it's my understanding that for the last workout of the 15s will be using your true 15RM. If you try to test what weight you'll only fail at 15 reps for the 3rd set, that could shift depending on alot of factors (but of course your 15RM can shift slightly). The first set will be to failure...

Nice :) And wow that burst of superhuman strength for the second set of Flat BB Bench is unreal! Although may be attributed to the drop in load [emoji14] (just bein cheeky, all looks great! Welcome to HST and the forum, I'm thinking of starting up another straight forward cycle, has been a...
