    Vitamin C

I recall reading something on this board some time ago about Vitamin C being not very beneficial for hypertrophy. I thought it was Bryan (sorry Bryan if I've misquoted you), but I'm not sure. Since I usually have a cup of applesauce for pre WO carbs, take a multi vitamin w/C, and eat other...

    pre workout meal

Depends if that's all you're eating... Assuming the amount of oatmeal is 1/2 cup (since that's a serving and it is comparable to 2 apples in calories) you will get less carbs with the oatmeal but more protein. If I had to pick between the two, I'd probably take a whole cup of oatmeal instead of...

    LifeCircuit Equipment anyone?

Well, just finished the summer bulking on this equipment. Gained about 10 lbs and ~3% BF. If any of you are interested in using it I'll put some brief comments below: Probably the two biggest complaints with the equipment is that you cannot (or at least I couldn't see a way to) set the +/-...

    Bryan's Advice On Cutting.

You'll find your answer in the Diet and Nutrition from the FAQ. True, there is some info in the Eating for Size article, but that mostly pertains to bulking... Partition could be part of it, but also pay attention to the other guidelines such as WHEN you consume your macros... For example, a...

    Olive Oil for calories

mmmm olive oil by the spoonful... Yeah, I used to do that too. But doesn't it get old? Usually I mix it in with tuna, salmon or potato. But my favorite is to take half a can of fat free refried beans, nuke, and stir in a tablespoon of olive oil. Then add chili powder, red peper, and garlic...

    BEANS

Even if beans don't have the ideal amino acid profile, they are still good... Bryan states in his protein article that the quality of protein isn't as critical IF you are getting enough protein overall...

    peanut butter

While we're on the subject, what about the saturated fat in peanut butter? I know we aren't supposed to be paranoid about it, but is daily consumption beyond moderation?

    Instant Milk

W/out reading the extra post (sorry dmk - a little long ), don't forget about the carbs in milk. I don't know about you, but I follow the "guidelines" from the FAQ and delay carbs ~1 after WO...

    salmon

I eat Chicken By The Sea salmon... While technically not canned (it's in a vacumm packed plastic container), it's the same thing. It's nice that it has little to no liquid and no cooking is required... Plus, there is currently a tasty and easy recipe on the back for salmon cakes!!!

    meal management

My meals probably won't sound appealing, but here's some: Cottage cheese (prepackaged, 1/2 cup) sandwich: Bread is 100% whole wheat, sometimes toasted Oatmeal, cereal, milk and sometimes flax. I buy the milk in preportioned 2 cup bottles, and keep the measured cereal in one of those Glad...

    meal management

It might not work for you since you can't carry your meals, but here's what I do: 1) Plan one week of meals (6 days plus 1 day off) 2) Make all meals on Sunday. Takes about 15-30 minutes... 3) Grab the pre-made meal that morning - before workout/work 4) Do workout, head to office 5) Enjoy...

    Any recent experiences with CLA?

I had the (mis?)understanding that CLA was best for body fat loss - you may have made gains but was your body fat impacted at all? Also, don't people react differently to CLA just as some do not get results from creatine?

    Rice?

If you decide to go the instant route, I can tell you it's worth the extra $$... At least I use instant brown rice ... The box says 10 minutes, but I just scoop an cup in a bowl, fill w/equal water, microwave for 2 minutes, and let it sit for at least 1-2 minutes after. Tastes great...

How do YOU count your protien?

For at least the past six months I have been way to anal about my protein/diet tracking. I would go on fitday and "build my meal" every day. I guess that worked best because I have done some cutting on the past and like to recalculate the details as the weight changes... Anyways ...

Need current & cheap protein recommendation

Hi all, Well it's time to purchase supplements again.... A couple quick questions: Can any of you recommend a good tasting/quality, inexpensive protein available online? I recall someone suggesting allthewhey.com before. I checked it out and it looks like they have 5lbs unflavored (yuck?)...

    Caffeine and dehydration

I've thought about this problem too since I usually end up drinking around 2 cups of coffee a day... Although I try to shoot for less, that's usually the average. In my opinion, less caffiene is better for you... Depending upon serving size, brew strength, and brand you get roughly the...
