I notice that some implement HST using a 6 day training regimen. I'm using 10 exercises focusing on compounds as a full-body AM/PM three days per week. Two sets per day, one set per workout. My goal is simply hypertrophy with the absolute minimal potential for over-training.
It occurred to me today is that shortening the workout might be a benefit. I was thinking of splitting my deads, squats, and calf-raises to Tue, Thurs, Sat which would leave only Sunday as a complete rest day. The leg day would not be AM/PM like Mon, Tues, and Wed.
Would such a change be likely to be better or worse from an over-training standpoint? I was pondering doing both deads and squats three times a week this way and limiting them to a single set per workout which would have been a major faux pas on a traditional routine. The thought is to spread the workload further in hopes of being able to pick up just a bit more. I'm wondering if I can get by with it on HST.
