As someone who is neither Democrat or Republican, with views that range from conservative to liberal depending on the issue, I've noticed that Democrats always think the media favors the right while Republicans constantly insist that the media are pushing a leftist, liberal agenda. I would argue that the media is actually more centrist than anything else, which of course the center always looks like it is to the right or the left depending on what end of the spectrum you've decided to inhabit.
If the media here truly was left leaning, then Bernie Sanders (who is obviously quite left-field) would have gotten a lot more coverage than Hillary Clinton, who is more quite clearly more centrist. She's basically a democrat/republican hybrid, only moving further left when forced to by Sanders. But the media has clearly shown a favor toward Clinton because despite the goat sacrifices and (probably daily) drinking of virgin blood, she is a safer bet than anyone else out there, in the eyes of the media. The only real exposure that Sanders got was through social media.
Of course the media seems like they are left leaning to Republicans, because the party as a whole has gone bat shit crazy lately, showing much greater extremes than before. Many of the candidates have seemed to fully embrace the fundamental religious whackos, making them even further right than ever before. Just look back ten years to George W Bush. Say what you will about him, but just looking at his policies, you can see that he was nowhere near as far to the right as the majority of the candidates the Republican party put forth this election cycle. With the road they are on, the party is going to crumble. They already damn near imploded as Trump kept winning primaries.
Not to say that the Democratic party is all that stable either. With all the shit that has come out about manipulating the primaries to ensure a Clinton nomination, and scads of citizens abandoning a party affiliation to become Independents, the Democratic party seems just as doomed as the Republicans unless they go through a radical transformation soon. Most people planning to vote for Clinton are only doing so out of resignation, because they think she is the "lesser of two evils" despite many also believing that she is the earthly manifestation of a great ancient evil like Cthulhu or something.
Me? I'm thinking we need to institute a purge of the government. Too many members of Congress have sat in their seats for decades, carrying around beliefs and ideals from a century ago when people were okay with hanging black men in the streets for accidentally making eye contact with a white woman or killing gay people because you were scared they would turn you gay too. We need people who are more flexible, able to adapt to the times as they change, or this country will continue going down the shitter.
