HIIT along with HST workout?

I came across the HST workout a week or so ago and it seems fantastic, going to be starting it on Monday... I've been reading that HIIT for cardio is the way to go however on this site they suggest lite cardio for 20-40min on non training days... I'm wondering if i combine 2-3 sessions of HIIT per week along with 3 HST workouts per week will I be over training? There is lots of evidence that supports HIIT here:

This thread shouldn't be in the training logs section of the forums...

To answer your question, though (unless you are a spam bot), it would be harder to gain size doing HST w HIIT every other day - you'd have to eat more just to maintain your current weight with doing that much work.

My apologize, I wasn't sure where to put it. No I'm not a spam bot. Thanks for your advice, I'm going to try it out with a couple HIIT sessions per week and eat like a cow while I do. Seems there's a lot of evidence showing that people maintain and even gain muscle with a few 20min HIIT sessions as opposed to doing 40min of easy incline treadmill. I'll just make sure I'm getting the quality calories I need. If I seem to be making a step in the wrong direction after a few weeks I'll switch back to easy cardio. Thanks for your help
