Cycling protein?

Some gurus suggest to cycle proteins, like 1 month low protein followed by 1 month high protein.
Does it make sense? Would there be an overcompensation?

Cycling calories might do something, but certainly, cycling protein may or may not do anything, depending on how dramatic these cycles are.

Once you are protein adequate, taking any more won't help. The only difference would be when you are protein inadequate, upon which taking more protein will lead to a difference.

Is there a basis for protein cycling? Not really, not that I can think of any right now. I'd probably keep my protein intake sufficient for my LBM or for some, their BM, then let carbs and fats make up the rest of the calories.

If I wanted a burst of anabolic calories, I don't have to take it in the form of protein. I would eat more ice-cream :D

Sufficient protein + calorie deficit = weight loss
Sufficient protein + calorie surplus = weight gain

It's about as simple as that.

These gurus.... who suggest cycling protein... like 50 gm a month, then 500gm the next or something along those lines... aren't really gurus at all.

Godspeed, and happy HSTing :)
