My buddy was telling me the other day he was doing presses with the California barbell. I looked at him like he was crazy and I figured out he was talking about the Olympic Barbell. He claims that "everyone" calls it a California bar. I have been training for almost 10 years at many different gyms and have never heard it called that.

How many of you have or havent heard of this terminology?
    just curious....

Yea, what? Never heard of a "california barbell." He must be one of those people who just makes something up and checks around to see if other people pick up his terminology.

A guy named Buddy Capps invented bars in Texas that he called Texas Bar Powers. (He had a deadlift and a squat bar, too.) They were/are basically just bars designed to handle a very high load. Maybe California Barbell is something similar? I've never heard of them, though.
