No strength from HST = Cause to worry?

Strength gains tend to be a pleasant side-effect of HST.  Boris Klein (on HST info page) has reported before that he has to modify his training to compensate for the rapid gains in strength he experiences on an HST cycle so he doesn't wreck his joints. There is a chance one could lose some...

    alcohol effects on workout

Concerning binge drinking and how it affects your training... Personally, alcohol is more hepatoxic for me than the next guy, so I get set back a bit just from one night of binging (which I don't do anymore). My libido goes down and my training suffers, but only for a few days. I know for a fact...

    Mixing HST and Holistic Training?

Based on a person's goals (which I assume are hypertrophy if doing HST), you train accordingly. Once I am out of the 15 rep range, I don't care if I lose the endurance I built up during that phase of training because it is not imperative that I keep it. What is imperative is that I am...

    Cutting Questions!

Very possible. Cutting calories too much while training frequently and intensely enough can cause your metabolism to slow to a crawl. Matter of survival as you eluded to. If you continue to restrict calories as you are, just bump your calorie intake up (with quality food or supplements) every...

    HSN Primer/Driver

I have been using Primer and Driver almost as long as I have been a member of the forum. I love the Driver+ because I can drink it anytime I need a quick meal and I love the taste. I use regular old Primer for my pre-workout shake and only use it on the days I train, so it lasts me a little while.

the ways of doing an exercise.

Drop sets are done to extend a regular set. For instance, you are on your last set of bench presses and do five reps, then immediately lower the weight by about 25% and do a few more reps, then lower the weight again by ~25% and do a few more reps, the last two sets would be referred to as your...

    Could you be a pro?

Remember this as well, then I'll get off the wagon, that genetics as related to hypertrophy is not just about how a muscle will respond to training, nutition, and drugs. It has to do with tendon length, fiber type variations, possible mutations in genes that control hypertrophy, origins and...

A weird double split , HST style?

Strength endurance doesn't get enough attention in athletics, at least not as much as it should. Here at the university, the strength and conditioning coaches focus so much on absolute strength it is kills me.

    Could you be a pro?

Due to genetics of course, otherwise, the way I train and eat would produce the same results across the board. It's not what they looked like before weight training, it is how they respond to it that will attest to their genetic potential. Case in point, train your chest in the exact manner as...

A weird double split , HST style?

Aaron F has a good forum going on Strength Specific Training and he is quite knowledgable in that realm. Maybe browse that forum or send him a PM. In my experience, my clients who are very specified in their training goals such as strength without weight gain, then we usually avoid doing the...

    Flexing Between Sets

Flexing between sets is okay and a good practice to continue. It not only increases metabolic demand on the muscle, but helps with learning muscle control and improving muscle appearance (clarity, sharpness, etc...).

My first two weeks on HST and the nxt few

Ian: Don't worry too much about the feeling from weight training. You should be able to keep a tight feeling, but not necessarily sore, if your load, volume, and nutrition are all on the same page. As Dan has said, more carbs during the 15's will help you maintain or even increase muscle...

    Cluster style HST

The total volume is dependent on your personal tolerance and ability to recover from workout to workout. How many sets do you do now, or better put, how many total reps do you do now?

    HST and stomach

Haha. Pooching is pretty much what Totentanz said. Most people when they crunch hold their air in on the contraction which leads to "pooching", forcing the abdomen to stick out more kind of like when someone is trying to make themselves look fat on purpose. Personally, I love using the...
