    mickc1965 training log

Ah cool I'm doing something similar at the moment, from a program called Anabolic Reload (from the Xrep guys, not always the most sound training principles they have, but some are pretty good ;) ). You do a lighter high rep set (20reps) to failure or close, rest 35s, increase the weight to get...

Ah right, I just reckon the calves feel differently to other muscle groups, like their potential to cramp up is much higher, but maybe that's just me haha. I've done BFR for biceps and triceps before, yyyyep it's insane....

...... BFR with calf raises...... that must be one of the most excruciating things one could do in the gym surely haha! OUCH!

Hey welcome back, and yep not sure what happened with the site, but I also couldn't get on for ages. And I'm finding that too, with every cycle I learn something to implement or importantly something that I need to be careful of or limit. Enjoy your restful deload, recover well :)

Is This How You Use Myoreps + Maxstim Withing Hst?

Nah I wouldn't say they're maxstim at all, moreso supersets or actually giant sets. They don't emphasise keeping tension constant on the muscle groups by shortening ROM, don't have mini-sets at max activation, seem more just blasting the crap outta the muscle. Looks like fun though haha, it's a...

    First Cycle, Have Some Questions

Ah youch... yeah as far as I know with overhead presses, your scapula naturally rotate and elevate so letting them do that is safest. Whereas with alot of pulling exercises the shoulders naturally want to come back and down which assists in the movement and recruits the muscles needed naturally...

    The Case For Isometrics

Really wanna try this but I know that'd push to me crazy levels of fatigue and CNS burnout pushing far past failure like that :P, but still would love to incorporate it somehow... unless just one exercise per session...

    Pullup Grip Width

Ah nice. Yeah even though it's slightly shortened ROM, I like the feel of the medium-wider grip, as though it's aiming at wrapping your elbows behind your body which is where the lats are wanting to bring your arms. Gonna play round with it and see

Bb Upright Rows! Fan? Not A Fan?

Cool, those T2Y raises sound fascinating! I'm currently really focusing on rear delts/mid back, they sound fun. And have always wanted to try Reverse grip Bench, but feels like it would be awkward just using a BB, good idea using Smith Machine on those... I fear my wrists wouldn't take too...

    Pullup Grip Width

Ah nice, yeah I tried the super wide ones and they just felt awkward.. have opted for a medium to wide for the first couple of sets, then a medium grip on subsequent ones. Ah yes I know that pain haha, I always thought that spot that got sore for me under the armpit was the serratus anterior...

    Starting Over From Scratch.

Awesome mate, yeah I love the intuitive style of training, most my cycles now I'm not preplanning any weights (just looking back and seeing what my RMs are for reference), but just increasing load over time, and dropping the reps when I feel I need to
