Here is a study done on humans ... (I think)
Hexosamines regulate leptin production in human subcutaneous adipocytes.

Hi, spencer
I like Lyle. His posts are often hilarious -- I think some people take his posts too seriously. BTW, if you post something on his site, he will answer your post for sure. He probably thinks that you purchased his book!! :D
When I enter his forum, I am automatically...
I have been looking at a number of papers, as you probably have, at PubMed. It seems that most papers on glycation does _NOT_ talk about glycation of DNA.
I did find one paper (there is probably more) which seems (to me) to talk about it (does it really?): Specific non-enzymatic glycation...
Let me give it a shot on answering this one.
One would like to be insulin sensitive all the time. Otherwise, insulin loses its effectiveness. Rephrased, whether you are insulin sensitive or not is independent from whether you want elevated levels of insulin or not. In general, you'd like...
There are two places where he is around.
(1) The first is:
http://www.theketogenicdiet.com
You can click on "the Keto Forum." You will see a screen that asks you to verify that you own his book. Just click on that button, and you will arrive at his forum...
I have posed a question on this at Lyle McDonald's forum, and he was negative on glucosamine.
While he understands that having increased amount of glucosamine "inside/around" fat cells elevate leptin production, he feels that oral delivery of glucosamine is rather poor, and is...
<scratching my head> I was talking to my sister-in-law (she is in biochemistry) who said that the reason why glycation would not be fixable is because the correction mechanism does not "see" sugar molecules (???).

From what I (mis-)understand...
Hi, Spencer
[you wrote]
> I am assuming that for keeping maximum fat gain at bay,

It seems so -- I am no expert, of course.

There are...
There has been many articles on leptin and its effect on fat loss.
Those who has just lost significant amount of fat "naturally", will find decreased production of leptin in their bodies. Its reduction results in decreases in metabolic rate, which makes fat loss much more...
Dermalean -- waste of money.
Cutting Gel -- waste of money.
Ripping Gel -- waste of money. It is made by the same company that makes the cuttnig gel.
Yohimbine HCL -- Pretty good, but probably not as good as Lipoderm-Y.
Lipoderm-Y. Probably the best transdermal fat loss product...
Hi, rgallucci
Oh, ONE more thing (sorry about keep posting here)
The DNA corrective mechanism you mentioned _doesn't_ work, because it cannot detect glucose molecules (that is what I heard). Also that is why the glycation is irreversible.
On a final note here is an interesting blurb from
http://www.infoaging.org/b-cal-9-r-age.html.

Hi, rgallucci
Thank you for your posts -- they have been _really_ informative.
You attributed aging to many factors -- you are probably right that there is no single magic bullet. In a way, it is a good reality check -- but depressing as hell at the same time.
It is funny how I deal...
Hi, rgallucci (sorry for misspelling your name in the previous post)/
I forgot about telomere "problem". But I don't think that will be solved anytime soon.
Hi, rgalucci
I might be mistaken but I think glycation is the right term. Glycation = non-enzymatic glycosylation of proteins, nucleotides and lipids by saccharide.
The following is one version of "aging" I heard -- perhaps it is totally wrong -- but let me present it here anyways...
I have taken another look at the links that edziu provided, http://www.infoaging.org/b-cal-6role.html.
It speaks of two effects of metabolic process. The first effect, which we have already covered, is about the generation of free radicals.

The...
(1) I dunno
(2) If I remember right (someone correct me), creatine absorption is facilitated by accompanying glucose intake. So, take it with juice. Especially grape juice.
(3) I don't think creatine is a laxative. You can take it straight. You can dissolve it befor edrinking it if you are...
If all oxidative process generates free radicals, then what is important would be anti-oxidants? By consuming anti-oxidants, how much of the free radicals can you remove from cell nucleus? Aaron, edziu?
