Never too old to put on muscle!!

Yeah, I think i remember him saying that he got his testosterone levels back on track before starting HST, without seing as good gains as with HST. I might be wrong, though... / R

    Are leg exercises necessary?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I think what most people really want is good proportions. Sometimes we overemhasize just adding mass. For me, adding a lot of pounds to my bw has never been a goal in itself - it's more about finding that whole body balance when it comes to proportionate...

    Weight increase

After 1 week of doing things the HST way, I already have gained some weight - and as far as I can judge it's not fat. Last week was 15's, this week is 12's. Starting to get into the groove of things. I had really no expectations, but I weighed in a week ago at 191 lbs (87 kg)...today the scale...

    Are leg exercises necessary?

Exactly. The point is that the HST principles by themselves do not say anything about which muscles to train -- except for emphasizing compounds, in general. The principles only says that research shows that your muscles will grow optimally by doing things the HST way. Which muscles? Your...

    Are leg exercises necessary?

I have to say that a chicken guy with monstrous legs would look even funnier :) . But I agree to some extent. However, I also feel that todays pro bodybuilders have proportionally to big legs. I prefer the proportions of "old-school" bodybuilders such as the Schwarzenegger or Draper...

    Maintaining Caloric Intake

Mental tabs, and keeping an eye on protein and good fats. The carbs tend to take care of themselves... Regards, / R

    Low Carb

Same thing here. Low carbs = PMS. I try to find a level where I cut down on carbs while cutting while still not wrecking my social life. I think that fearofthedark nailed it - it's all about the struggle over glucose. Regards, / R

    Protein Bars

Well, apparently not. If you survived the first one, you'll probably survive the other ones as well (if you didn't fall of your chair in convulsions after your post, that is. If so, please let us know :) ) But are they worth it? What the price for fresh ones? Regards, / R

    Salt

Most of us get plenty of salt anyway without having to add extra. I've never heard anything that would suggest that extra salt would be beneficial pre- or post workout. Regards, / R

Never too old to put on muscle!!

Old & Grey, who's now quit the forum (unfortunately), also told of great gains, at least since starting HST. And he is around 60... /R

    Sissy squats

I'd have to agree with Tcup, lose the board, if not for anything else then for stability. About sissy squats - I've tried them, but they didn't do much for me. I prefer "normal" squats. But my advise would be to try them and find out for yourself - weight training is a very individual...

    PROBLEM with when to SD

Extend - if you feel "fresh" enough to do so. Always listen to your body. There's also a question of how to extend it. If you're starting to feel worn out, do high reps, or a mini cycle where you start at 10's (or 15's) and end up at 5's just before SD. Regards, /R

    Are leg exercises necessary?

I would say no. The HST principles are just as valid even if you're not specifically training your legs. However, you will of course not put on as much overall body mass, since you're not likely to build as much muscle on your legs as you would if you incorporated leg exercises in your training...

    about resting time

I'd have to agree with ephman - let your body dictate your resting length between sets. Generally, my rest periods are shorter when I'm in the high rep range than when i'm in the 4-5's, for example. Also, some days are better than others, and you can always shorten your rest if you feel...
