    Study: 1 set vs 3

It never ends ;) "McGuigan and McBride fail to address the unsupported claim in the Position Stand that intermediate and advanced trainees require training programs that are different from beginning programs, and that most of the so-called evidence in the Position Stand was drawn from...

    best times for cardio

A couple points I disagree with: 1. Just because you do cardio before breakfast doesn't mean you have to skip breakfast. 2. I don't consider steady state at 60% of max to be "intense exercise" which you need to warm up to. In fact I find it to be a good warm up in itself, and you can...

    Hood Milk Products

I would imagine the expiration date of the milk would be the deciding factor, wouldn't it? What else could happen to it, other than some settling over time, which would be taken care of by shaking before use.

    Smith Machine Question

My gym says the smith bar is 25 lbs vs. the regular olympic bar at 45 lbs.

    Hood Milk Products

How about making your own version: 1/2 scoop Driver 60 cal 2 gr carbs 12 gr protein 4 oz. fat free milk 45 Cal 6 gr carb 4 gr prot. 4oz. water Total: 105 cal 8 gr carb 16 gr protein Less than 1 gr fat I use Driver because I prefer the taste, but Primer would be even lower carbs if that's...

    Lat pulldown

Unless you like the variety, I don't see any point on doing so many different yet similar movements. Pick the one that has the most ROM, stretches the muscle under load, and allows you to use the most weight. That would be close grip, (about shoulder width), front pulldown, in my opinion. Wide...

    HELP . Water Intake During Creatine : : :

Absolutely untrue. People have died from drinking too much water. "Even modest increases in fluid intake can result in "water intoxication" if one's kidneys are unable to excrete enough water (urine). Such instances are not unheard of, and they have led to mental confusion and...

    First Attempt At HST

Regarding SD, it will be less effective for you since you are basically working out at work, and therefore you won't get much from the 15's and the first week of 10's. I have a similar problem with a job that is physical, so what I've done is start out with only 2 or 3 15's workouts then move on...

Mikey, I was wondering if you plan on doing any higher rep metabolic work as well, or do you think the HIIT will take care of that?

    hst question but new member

Actually O.G., I'd like to see how he responds to HST. He could just do more volume than we normally do. He may also be, (I hope), including cardio in his 2.5 hour workouts. A two week SD then jump into the second week of 15's and progress from there might be the way to go. Just a thought.

"Lactic acid does not stimulate growth"...?

It took him about 5 months to get what I would consider ripped, which is good, but not amazing. Also, the guy is not that big, just very lean with decent muscle mass. So when it comes to the effects of lactic acid, I'll agree with Bryan until some proof otherwise comes along.

Only Workout 2 times a week. during summer

You should be able to still make gains doing 2 times a week. Not a big deal. For summer, I'm switching to maintenance/cutting, and working out 1 to 2 times a week, plus my job which is physical and my pastime activities, which are also physical. We'll see how it goes.

    Project: sufr

SUFR Love it! I'm trying something similar, in regards to load, but even less volume and frequency, once or twice a week. So it's really not that similar I guess ;) Maybe I'll call it Lazy A$$ Summer Routine: LASR

Yeah, without even looking into it I'm going to guess it's hype. Very unscientific I know.

    Compound Exercises vs. Isolation

Generally I agree but I would point out two things. 1. Sometimes they just aren't possible or effective, due to injury or physiology. Especially squats, some people seem to have weak biomechanics for that motion. 2. I consider something like a leg press and machine squat to be a compound...
