    Couple questions on growth

I'm only 32 -- is it really possible that my T levels are already low? Heavy Duty dude, I'm pretty sure my sd was effective. It was 17 days, and I was sore from the very first workout. I know that's not necessarily a certain indicator, but I guess it's all I've got to go by. Actually, I guess...

    Couple questions on growth

I just realized that it might help for me to explain why I'm asking. My last cycle was pretty unsuccessful. I gained about 5 pounds and about 1/2 an inch around my waist. After SD I've only got 1.5 pounds left of that gain (mostly water apparently), and I know that if I lose that 1/2 inch...

    Couple questions on growth

I'm not quite sure how to best articulate my question, but here goes ... Is growth controlled by an on/off switch, or is it hooked up to a dimmer? In other words, assuming that I work my muscles adequately and consume enough calories to establish a caloric surplus (along with protein etc), can...

I lost all my gain during the SD :(

Chthonian, Not to hijack this thread, but I wanted to respond to your question about the 15s and lactic acid. By the end of my 10 week HST cycle (which includes three weeks of 5s and two weeks of negatives), my elbows are usually shot. I always begin each new cycle with two weeks of 15s --...

What creates the turtle belly look?

Don't know if its the same thing or not, but a while back there was a thinkmuscle article which discussed visceral fat -- the fat which accumulates in the gut and around the organs (highly correlated with heart disease), which results in the pot belly look (as opposed to the squishy fat visible...

I lost all my gain during the SD :(

Did you really only take 1 week off?

    What to do

Also, if your SD was only a week long, then you will benefit from taking some more time off!

    Help- I'm Getting srink

I never use those calculations. I just know from experience how many calories I need to maintain my weight. Are you eating 2500 calories on your cutting diet, or is that your maintenance intake? I only weigh 160 pounds (about 50 pounds less than you, I think) and my maintenance calories are...

    Help- I'm Getting srink

Oh, so you are trying to shrink. That is to say, you are dieting. That explains a lot. I wouldn't go so far below maintenance calories. In fact, I won't go more than 200 or 300 (at the most) below maintenance. The more you cut calories, the more likely you are to lose muscle. Do more cardio to...

    Help- I'm Getting srink

Are you shrinking? Are you taking measurements or weighing yourself? What is your diet like? Soreness is not a prerequisite for growth. Have you always been sore in the past? How long have you been weight training, and how long was your last SD?

    Cardio during a bulking cycle?

Also, even cardio is anabolic when calories are sufficient.

Looked in the mirror this morning....

The power bars aren't so great either.  Pretty much just a candy bar.   Also, 500 calories is a big range (2800-3300) -- I would close the gap a bit.   A couple of other things to keep in mind: (1) only so many of your "extra" calories will go toward building muscle; the rest will go...

Yeowww I started 15s after 13 day SD

I have a similar response after SD (mine lasts 17 or 18 days). When I come back to the 15s, I feel like I'll never be able to keep increasing the weight with each workout. But I do. Each workout remains difficult all the way through the cycle. I think that if you've properly SDed that this is...

    New to HST

You do seem to be doing a lot of work for some of the smaller muscle groups -- biceps and triceps in particular.

    chin up ROM

I agree with robefc. Not only is the stretch the part of the motion where the muscle is most susceptible to damage, but I seem to remember someone (Kate, I think) explaining that if the shoulder blades are not moving, you aren't doing much of anything for your back. Can't find that old thread...

    New to HST

I find that if I allow a little extra time in between really tough exercises, that I avoid the nausea. If I have to hurry through a workout I ALWAYS get nauseous -- even if its the 10s or 5s.

    Forearms and Calves

This makes sense since the 5s are the heaviest. This is a muscle group you really have to work hard.

    Rep Maxes?

Don't worry, tennisdude, its just a few more days. And it'll be worth it.

    Training

Sorry if that legs comment sounded obnoxious -- didn't mean it to. Its just that you're using a lot more weight with your upper body than with the lower.

    Training

Based on those numbers, you must have a big upper body and legs like a bird! :D No squats? Also looks like a lot of volume in the 15s and 10s (45 and 30 reps respectively), and a significant drop once you arrive at the 5s (a more normal 15 reps). Is there a reason for this?
