Didn't Bryan Tell Us This Like A Long Time Ago?

Egads, this isn't new info! Bryan should get the credit

that looks cool, I hope they record and 'podcast-ify' it for later intense listening :)

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

IMO, ,the key to ALL this stuff is REALLY really being able to visualize recruitment and activation, most of the answers are right there. Total number of 'ons' for each fiber and that in reference to their condition and specific MHC type is probably the pure answer to volume, reps, TUL, ... etc...

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

that makes sense, I remember waaaaaaaaaaaaay back, maybe 2003, Dave Maurice (who was awesome with the physiology 'stuff') recommended I read a few books, one was Komi's Strength and Power in Sport, I think that book it was mentioned that when they tested powerlifters for quad activation a 3Rm...

    Post-workout Carbs And Immune System!

sure! If you wanna really blunt cortisol, use Phosphatydalserine , it's study proven to lower cortisol, I've used it (blood sugar rises with higher cortisol, I've checked mine many times and it was a lot lower when using it).

    Post-workout Carbs And Immune System!

I've never read that about carbs before, oddly, I've read that sugar lowers immunity via those same mechanisms. The one thing I read about, and it seemed to help me, was L-glutamine after a workout.

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

Oh yeah, that was 'exaggeration for illustrative purposes for sure. it was mainly to show, that what is a good rep, is per motor unit. We can think of them for the whole muscle, which implies enough work for all fibers, but we just need to keep in mind that different motor units experience more...

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

Very cool video * IMO, the main reason untrained do better going to failure, is due to how untrained usually 'guess' where failure is really poorly. A study I've seen found that untrained people usually 'thought' they were close to failure when they actually were many many reps short of failure...

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

I've wondered that too, same with the Doggcrap trainees. a few warm ups, then one killer set. I would bet that the one set is pretty darned stimulating. If a person can do that often enough, and for long enough, they'd accumulate some good muscle size. Well, they must as many actually have. Now...

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

they do see that in some cases, like with endurance training, ST fibers will grow, they are the only ones activated enough to experience tension. It's why we have to activate and fully recruit, otherwise, any not recruited or 'barely recruited' wouldn't experience enough work and tension (and...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

Here is my theory that takes into account tension, time, volume and frequency. I'm sure this is how fiber size operates. *Sleep for example is an atrophy input, it doesn't happen as strong as the input, but it's pulling down on protein synthesis, there is no PS upregulation signal during this...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

I myself am positive there is something about 'time at tetany' that is a strong trigger.WAY back years ago, me and Dan started an e-book on this theory, then I didn't hear back from him for a bit and he was creating max stim at the same time and released that. I still have the first few jumbled...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

OK cool, yes, that's how I learned all this many years ago, then reading about theory on fibers I guess mixed it up. 'How' a twitch works isn't how it actually 'happens' in real life. I guess it's kinda like a car engine, we could read about force from a single piston firing and assume a car...

Hypertrophy And Effective Reps - Incomplete Model?

Interesting post Mike.. First, zip over to your other thread, I posted some interesting info. on that. (rate coding, fiber tension, etc.) Second,.. effective reps.. I think that term is misleading, it makes one think some aren't and some are. But really , it's more effectiveNESS of a rep. Every...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

The picture I'm getting from all this, is that during a 'set' , since it's not super light, and barring if the person is literally pushing with 'do or die' all out crap their pants effort, most motor units pulse on and off with a higher level of rate coding, and therefore high tension, in a...

Is Load Progression Necessary For Hypertrophy?

https://physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1113/jphysiol.1954.sp005161 Very interesting.... Apparently, in real life, most motor units 'come online' with close to full tetanic tension, they pulse in and out. So the logical (seemingly) idea that rate coding slowly increases fiber tension...
