2.5kg increments for shrugs seems quite low (<2%) Have you thought of, or tried doing, one large Myo-rep set for these? Also, I have no idea how you can do so many high-rep sets of chins? Darned impressive.

    _tim's Log

Hey Tim, no straps in your gym bag? 32 reps is still a whole lot of deads. :) Good to see you back at it. All the best for this week. Hope life is treating you and your family well enough. Any long-term effects from your car accident or are you 100% now?

    mickc1965 training log

Mick, did your back squats not go as planned? 10 and 7 instead of 2 X 15 seems a little far off target for you. Also, how are you doing your hack squats? Are your lunges with a bb on your back or with a couple of db's? I'm thinking of doing some kind of split squats once a week as a bit of a...

    Lol's New HST Log

Cheers, Jester. Something else I always try to do when benching is to consciously tighten everything (legs, abs, entire back, grip, and adding torque to arms through shoulders) before I lift the bar off. The weight feels much lighter when I do this than when I forget. Much better stability. Q...

    A New Idea About Hst?

Superficially different, fundamentally the same (at least, in this context).

I wish I had legs like yours. Insane curls too. I assume you're doing these in the rack, seeing that's probably as much as some people are squatting with? ;)

Yup, that's what I'm doing. They effectively allow me to lift my heels about an inch. Helps with my arch which is fairly rubbish and unlikely to improve much.

    Olympic Bar Suggestions

I'm not sure how that price translates to GB pounds but it's very hard over here to get a good bar for less than £300. I managed to bend a £200 bar the first week I had it. Returned it and paid the extra for a Taishan elite weightlifting bar. What a difference! Think I got it for around £350 on...

Fri 29/07, evening session LBBS after warmups: 125/5,5,5,5 130/8,5 8 X 130 points to ~160. I think I had at least one rep in the tank too. Paid my GBPF membership today and visited the local gym where the meet is being held. It's right opposite my old primary school. Last time I was there I...

    2016 Log

Congrats on your new arrival. Is Jester Junior a boy or girl? I remember that time well and I don't envy you or your misses one bit. My lad thought nights were for letting all the neighbours know he existed, which lasted about 10 months. YMMV. I hope it's significantly better. Mind you, after...

    Lol's New HST Log

@Totentanz: I think 1000 should be very doable, assuming I don't get red lighted for silly things. Eg. The IPF rules require that soles of shoes remain flat on the floor while benching. It's quite easy to lift the edge of a shoe or to lift a heel a bit when concentrating on pressing. This is why...

Its an IPF meet so I'm planning on entering in the 93kg weight class. That will allow me to add a bit of mass between now and October.

Thanks guys. @Jester: re HBBS: Yes, I am much more familiar with HBBS now, but I find I can usually get an extra 5kg if I switch to LBBS. Eg. Tonight I got a 157.5kg LBBS and may have made a 160. I will try again in a week's time. Thanks very much for the Mike T program. I will spend a bit...

Hello fellow HST'ers, Did the site go offline for a while? I haven't been able to log in for a couple of weeks. I'm very pleased to find it's back again. I'm toying with doing a powerlifting meet in October as it's being held locally. My numbers are currently way down so I have much work to...

Hey Tot'z, really good to see you posting again and to hear you've been getting back to some regular lifting. Hope things are working out better for you now. That's some sick squatting as you start off again. :) All the best with your benching goal.
