Suggestions on how to find 15 RMs

No, you're right. The way you nullify that is by finding the RM's in the same order that you plan to do the exercises. So yes, your biceps will be fatigued after rows, but the RM is still accurate as long as you're consistent in the order. -Calkid

Suggestions on how to find 15 RMs

Just do it all in one day. You can usually tell within a few reps if you'll hit somewhere in the ballpark of 15. Basically the first few reps should feel easy. Just go til you hit failure, and if it's anywhere from 10-15, call the next lighter increment your 15RM. If it's anywhere from...

what gym do you belong to?

Time for Cal Gym pics! Berkeley RSF: The main weight room The auxiliary room, where they have the huge really old power cages. For some reason they hold classes in here during peak hours. DARN THEM! And the outside: I've build 10-12 pounds LBM with the help of this rickety old place...

what gym do you belong to?

My Cal Berkeley University gym, aka the RSF (Recreational Sports Facility). It's pretty old skool -- a lot of the plates and equipment are rusty, a lot of the plates are mismatched sizes, and some machines are old and rickety. I'm one of only two people I've ever seen do a full squat and a...

    Summary of HST principles

lol, no problem whatsoever. I wrote it to try and help anyone understand HST -- not merely those interested in using it. Just know, however, that not all of what I claimed in there falls under the umbrella of one of the studies quoted. For instance, if someone wanted to challenge my...

    Ideal Bedtime and Midnight Snack?

My reasoning for taking both whey and casein was that I've seen a few people (Bryan included) mention that whey is anabolic, and casein is more anti-catabolic. So I'd be taking whey for growth and casein to prevent overnight catabolism. Besides, I still have 2/3 of this 10-lb. sack of whey...

    Ideal Bedtime and Midnight Snack?

What is an appropriate meal before bed and in the middle of the night? My roommate rows crew, so he wakes up with his alarm at 4:45. I figure since it wakes me up anyway I might as well eat. So what would both of those meals look like? I was thinking... one scoop whey, a chicken breast or other...

Need help getting started with HST

Don't worry about it. In this forum (basic training principles) anything goes. So basically you're allowed really n00b-y as long as you post it in here Okay then. Decline bench will do a decent job of mimicking chest dips, so that's fine. As to shoulder, think about it in terms of the...

Need help getting started with HST

Start with one set of each for your first cycle. If you find you're always energized and can handle more volume, up it to two for your second cycle. Back to chest, though. I'm really a big fan of dips. 24 Hour Fitness really doesn't have a single non-graviton dipping station? That seems a...

Need help getting started with HST

I really feel (as I'm sure Bryan also does) that the only chest exercises you need are dips and incline bench press. I'd personally recommend that incline to be about 45 degrees, so use the adjustable bench. As to dips, I know 24 hour fitness has these, so use a Dip Assist machine to remove...

    Diet for HST

The results of using ABCDE with HST would be great because the fullbody nutrient partitioning would keep you from putting on fat as quickly while adding a lot of muscle. The only problem is making it fit with the HST cycle. I'm doing an ABCDE-esque experiment shortly...I'll switch from...

    Summary of HST principles

I wrote this the elite fitness training board, both in response to and to try and feed a recent HST buzz that's started there. I figured it was appropriate to repost it here. ----------------------------------------------------------- There have been a lot of questions and potential confusion...

    My Dieting Intake

That's a REALLY good point. I guess I'm also eating very very clean. A typical day looks like this: Breakfast: 1/2 cup scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes, 1 cup 2% milk Lunch: Chicken burger, salad, 2 cups 2% milk, 1/2 cup french fries Dinner: Full chicken breast, 1/2 cup mashed potatoes, salad...

    My Dieting Intake

The thing is, I was kinda performing an experiment to see how many calories my body would want if I decided on "no holds barred" eating. I miss breakfast a lot because of class and sleeping late, so that means I have a big lunch, a big dinner, and another big meal at around midnight...

    My Dieting Intake

I find that when I eat until I'm full, I end up eating just about as much as I would when I'm officially dieting. I'm not joking. The past four days I've been eating whatever I want, whenever I'm hungry, and my calories have normalized at around 2100 kcal/day. That's about what I was shooting...
