Comments on my first routine and a qustion

Pick one of the shrugs, one of the bicep curls, one of the calves, and one of the triceps (preferably the extension). Doing both motions for each muscle group is unnecessary. With muscle groups as small as those, doing two motions doesn't help and only increases the number of RM's and weight...

When do you adjust your cycles?

I usually add new exercises during the 5's. That way stuff is already heavy, and testing new maxes won't condition your muscles to make the training ineffective. -Calkid

Supplementation on Day Off or Cardio Day

Creatine: take everyday. Whey: I don't take this on off days. I just try to have a lot of protein-heavy meals. However, if I'm doing cardio, I'll take some beforehand to prevent catabolism. That's all I supplement. -Calkid

    Gaining vs. Cutting

I did that for a cycle and absolutely nothing happened. No change in bodyweight, no change in measurements, no change in maxes. A complete waste of a cycle. -Calkid

Am I hitting all main muscle groups?

I think there's a little you're neglecting. In my opinion, the following comprises a complete program: Leg Pushing motion (leg press/squat) Calf Pushing motion (Toe press, calf raise) Something for hamstrings (stiff-legged deadlift, leg curl) Something for lower back (some sort of deadlift...

    Has anyone tried NO2

Yeah, 1 in 2 odds isn't good enough for me to spend $80. I mean, that's like a month's worth of food, one of the only PROVEN anabolic substances :D -Calkid

    Has anyone tried NO2

Isn't that stuff ridiculously expensive? I was browsing, found this page: http://www.supplementcritic.com/no2.htm Seems like half of the people said it does nothing, and the other half say it's unbelievable. I'd like to see some of the science behind it. Oh, and also $20 a bottle instead of...

First time on a restricted 5 week schedule!!

You'd stop at 5 reps. Although going to failure is what causes most fatigue, it isn't quite so black-and-white. A few weeks of lifting even stopping right before failure will probably burn you out a lot faster than just sticking to the rep range. -Calkid

What do you mix your protein powder with

I just dump my chocolate whey in a half cup of water, mix the bastard, and chug it. It's not necessarily gag-worthy, but holy cow is it rancid. My next purchase will definitely be vanilla. -Calkid

Creatine benefits in laymans terms please!

Creatine increased PCr (phosphocreatine) stores in the muscle cells. PCr is responsible for regenerating ATP during intense work. So, having a higher level will make you feel more energetic and more able to handle higher volume. Creatine also increases growth, probably from increased...

    Why Eat Meat?

Actually primates started out insectivorous (such as prosimians), and later certain branches adapted to eat only fruit and vegatation. Chimpanzees, our closest living relative, are omnivorous. Homo Erectus, the most successful yet of the Homo lineage, was able to quickly spread throughout...

How is a Narrow-Grip Bent Over Row performed?

Grab a bar with appropriate weight while standing upright, narrow grip (that could mean handes 6 inches apart). You should be holding it, arms unflexed, legs maybe shoulder-width. Like the lockout position for a deadlift. Bend over at the waist so that your back forms roughly a 60 degree...
