Ordered first HSN protein supp today

It boiled down to cost. 1fast400 was $27 for some driver, and here it's $40. I'd love to help Bryan more directly, but I'm not swimming in money right now. Although I think this is intentional to some degree. In response to the question, "why is it more expensive from the HSN...

    your results with HST...

That's gonna be water weight. When I come off SD and start bulking, I usually get 3-5 pounds immediately (and I'm not big). Then it tapers off to 1-2 pounds a week. That initial 3-5 goes away during SD, but I keep the rest. -Calkid

Ordered first HSN protein supp today

I've already ordered some HSN:cre but I figured it was time to finally get some of the flagship protein. I ordered one jar of driver from www.1fast400.com. Very reasonably priced, and from what I hear they ship quickly, so I look forward to enjoying my first HSN protein in 2-3 days.

    Berardi's food combination's

I'd like to hear from the big boys on this one. Don't know enough about diet to help you out. I did read the Berardi article (it's on his website, Massive Eating, part 2) From what I remember the protein+carb meals are to trigger insulin release for anabolism, but because there's no fat...

    Back development & exercise selection

I hear ya blade... Omitting something as essential as a vertical pull is just begging for muscle imbalance and general dysfunction. Not to mention there's almost no other way to train your lower trapezius. Why wouldn't you want a V-taper? -Calkid

    Misc questions regarding 5s

What do you mean? Do 3-4 sets of 5 reps? I'd just do 2 at most. During the 5's you don't need to do as many total reps at the working weight. No, that's just if you're a beast like Blade. I'll typically warmup for leg press, chest dips, and chins. After a general warmup of 5 minutes...

    Ab training?

What helps me rationalize it is to realize that the rectus abdominus is the functional antagonist of the erector spinae. All it does it curve the spine, while erector spinae straightens it. Whereas the iliopsoas (hip flexors), what you work when you do leg raises, are the functional antagonist...

    Ab training?

Hmm. I think my 5RM was the machine's max. After one cycle I had to start adding those extra plates on top for like 2.5-5 pounds each. I had three on it for over 5 reps. It can be hard when using these to isolate abs and not include hip flexors. -Calkid

    Ab training?

Just weighted ab crunch. I think the machine was a cybex, if that helps. I had that problem too, after one cycle I could max out the stack + weight for more than 5. After halfway through the subsequent cycle I stopped abs though. Oh, and just cause it's not burning doesn't mean it's not...

    Ab training?

I did abs HST-style. They blew up! I don't train them any more; otherwise they'd be too big. The plus side is I can now see all 8 at over 10% bodyfat. But do be careful. Huge abs are gross. -Calkid

    Ineffective calories ?

Is that a possibility? I thought pretty much everything ingested was DIgested. Micmic -- I was under the impression that the greater the quantity of food eaten at one sitting the greater potential for fat storage. At any given instant, the body needs X of this, Y of that, and Z calories. If...

Concern regarding Bent Over Row Form

Thanks for clearing that up Kate. I pull instinctually but do find that there's a lot of trap involvement. Inevitably my back is the sore and fatigued muscle group, not my arms. Where I was confused was that I interpretted what some were saying as instruction to lock the scapulae, which is...
