    Hamstrings

I'll never do leg curl again, only SLDL. Why? Hamstrings were designed to work synergistically with a whole host of other muscles to produce hip extension. I want to train according to function in addition to growth. Also I grow a bunch better from SLDL than from leg curl.

When I get hungry I get tired

So does this mean I should never do some kind of low-carb diet?

When I get hungry I get tired

Julios: That's it to a T. Guess I'm hypoglycemic. Now what the heck causes it? What's funny is my friends know this; whenever I get snappy and yawny they remark, "Oh, you know how he gets when he's hungry."

When I get hungry I get tired

What do you mean by 'bonk?' Feel really energized? I don't know; I usually work out about 30 minutes after I wake up, and I don't have a significant amount of carbs beforehand.

When I get hungry I get tired

I was thinking maybe it's an insulin thing. My personal theory is that I'm incredibly insulin-sensitive. I'm naturally quite lean and don't want to eat that much. So I figure I have an intense response to insulin, and blood sugar gets cleared quite quickly leaving me (thx Cliner)...

    hsn alternatives

Whey is generally pretty fast. I can be made faster if it's "instantized," and other stuff. Even the slowest whey ever is pretty fast, has to do with the protein structure.

When I get hungry I get tired

Happens all the time, even now when I'm bulking. It's like clockwork. Yeah, I do perk up quite immediately. Hmm.

    hsn alternatives

Good call... I myself buy HSN driver but eschew the primer. The market is flooded with cheap and effective whey, of which optimum nutrition's is my favorite. But there's definitely a lack of casein-based "slow" protein. Optimum makes an egg protein supplement...might be worth...

When I get hungry I get tired

Okay when I get at least moderately hungry, I become unbelievably tired. All I want to do it take a nap. Eating in such a situation never fails to energize me. I don't know anybody else who experiences this so drastically. What's going on with me?

Is Strategic Deconditioning Systemic or Local?

Whoa there Pauly... I think he just wants clarification. No, 9 days isn't enough to make you noticeably less fit or healthy.

    machines vs. free weights?

I don't disagree at all. Some of the balance training I'd prescribe very much resembles plyometrics and multiplanar hops -- stuff that sports quite well approximates. But the layperson who doesn't do recreational sports typically has godawful balance. I'm just saying, if it's a choice between...

    machines vs. free weights?

Guys, SAID isn't gospel. It's just a guideline for explaning adaptations. If you want to get into SAID, how about this: the imposed demand is resistance in an unstable environment, the adaptation is an increase in neuromuscular coordination and balance. Just because doing a deadlift is...

    machines vs. free weights?

Alrighty, in that case... Claim: freeweights improve neuromuscular coordination moreso than machine weights due to greater use of proprioception and challenge to balance. Muscles, tendons, ligaments... all have what are called mechanoreceptors. These provide the brain with information on...

    machines vs. free weights?

Because, in the real (ie unsupported) world, you're limited by how well you can balance yourself and activate stabilizing muscles during a lift. This is more important than you'd think. If you don't believe me, try doing heavy dumbell lunges with a fast-ish tempo. Only after a few weeks am I...

    machines vs. free weights?

Better physical coordination, better transference to real-world strength, better balance, etc. Not necessarily better growth though, but general health and ability are important too.

    protein before bed

I'm a big believer in eating before bed; I have about 700 calories of food and 40-50g of protein before bed. (bulking right now, obviously :D) So far results have been solid.

    BAD 1ST CYCLE RESULTS

If you're not counting calories, you're hurting your progress. Would you go to the gym and not count reps? I'd say maybe you were eating too little, but if you're not counting it's hard to say. Just use fitday, man...don't make it a point of pride.

Uh, how do you use a belt for proprioception? I've never heard of that before.
