    Amino acid uptake

Im currently consuming 400g CHO on training days, 250g CHO on non-training days. Is this enough to bulk on? My protein is very high (430 and 350 g/day respectively) so with only 3500 cals theres not a lot of room for carbs. Would I be better to drop the protein back a bit and increase the...

Is Strategic Deconditioning Systemic or Local?

Read the FAQ and the HST articles then you wont need to ask such questions. Who says health will be adversely affected by 9 days out of the gym? Id go as far as to say it does you good (healthwise, not just hypertrophywise) to have time off from the gym every now and again. I recommend you...

    How to SD?

I hope youre taking the piss! One day without exercise and youve lost your sex drive, developed bad posture, got smaller and fatter, and got all tense!! Youve got serious problems there mate! And whats a dry mouth got to do without training for a day??

Bump. Anyone else know anything about this? Bryan? Blade? Lyle (if youre watching! )?

    Amino acid uptake

I was wondering what is the actual transport mechanism for amino acid uptake into the muscle cell so that protein synthesis can occur? The reason I was wondering this is so I can maybe better design my diet to optimise protein uptake by the muscles (ie by playing around with protein types...

Appetite as a leptin level indicator ?

Fraid so, otherwise you wouldnt know if the weight loss was fat or muscle.

Appetite as a leptin level indicator ?

Monitoring your strength losses feom week to week is hard to do with HST though because of the load progression and zig-zagging. Ive read that a good way is to monitor your rate of fat loss. When this starts to slow down it is an indication that leptin levels are falling. If you were losing...

1st AAS cycle of my life

Where did you get your soap from BTW? I havent heard of sacylic acid soap over here (UK). Did it work? Are you prone to spots anyway? Im three days into a cycle (Im going to start a journal up on here when I get round to it with some before and after pics). What where your dosages? Im...

Lose body fat first or just bulk up

I thought exercise increased insulin sensitivity? Or at least made the muscle more insulin sensitive?

    Dips with assistance

Depth + weight can be a problem with dips. I naturally go quite deep, which is fine with lower weights, but as I got up to 5RMs, going as deep as I do has given my shoulders a bit of stick. Halfway through SD and they still hurt when I raise my hands over my head. With dips, just be sure to...

    Creatine question

I dont think itd be too much of a problem. Youre getting plenty through the week and youre not training over the weekend so you wont use up much (if any) of the creatine store youve built up in your muscles. Dont worry about it...

    Board thickness for Squat

Using a board for your heels pushes your knees forward thereby putting a lot more stress on them. Check your form in a mirror and youll see what I mean. If you do use a board just make sure your knees dont go out infront of your feet or youll regret it in the long run.

    Accessories

Me too! I only use a belt to hang weights off when Im dipping. Ive got onto some pretty heavy weights with squats and SLDLs without using a belt. Keeping your form right will preent back pain better than any belt ever will. I did get a few twinges in my lower back but I worked out that was...

    Low carb

Digesting protein has a higher thermic effect than digesting carbs or fat (Ive heard its as much as double). Your gut is burning more calories (and therefore producing more heat) just absorbing and digesting the stuff. Maybe this is enough to push your core temperature up enough to sweat?

    Berardi's food combination's

Aaron, Do you think its possible to do refeeds by feel? I started with weekend refeeds (4000cal sat, 3000 sun, 2300 mon-fri) and the weight came off fine. I got to a point where I thought i was ready for smaller, more frequent refeeds (every 4th day for one day instead of two) as my bf got...

    Casein in the UK

Stevie, Good idea about the egg whites - but I have a hard time stomaching any large amount of eggs on any kind of regular basis. Plus theres the hassle of cooking them (and then doing the washing up! ). Guess Ill keep looking for some casein... Robefc, I was wondering, is your name meant to...

    Casein in the UK

What about the carb content of cottage cheese? Isnt it in the form of lactose, which Im trying to avoid? Anyone have the nutrtional info on cottage cheese (including what types of carbs and protein constitute the advertised totals)? Thanks in advance... Paul

    Casein in the UK

I know - I got them to send me a sample label before I ordered so I could check the amino acid profile against what I was using (Prolab Pure Whey - cheapest here was £32 for 5lb). It checked out so i got some. Ive been using it for some time now with no complaints... Edit: Ive just checked the...
