does green tea really help immunity?

I think l-theanine, a specific component of green tea, may be worth looking at for it's immunity-boosting properties. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=usa&q=theanine I bought some for both my parents. My dad recently had a urinary tract infection stemming from kidney stones...

    CLA Testimonials

When I most noticed it was during a cruise... I didn't exercise and I ate like a pig (like 2 dinners a night), and nothing happened. At the very least my pants should have fit a little tighter. (Everyone else I was with put on a couple pounds.) I was using Tonalin. Some from Kilosports.com...

    CLA Testimonials

It didn't seem to do anything for me. The only effect I noticed was it seemed like I could eat almost anything and not get fatter. But I didn't lose bodyfat, nor did I seem to build lean mass any faster than I did otherwise. I'm not going to use again until I better understand the roles of...

    Cruciferous Veggies, DIM and Cancer

Just wanted to call attention to a news item I thought was interesting. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm....fighter Here's a key passage. Here's a link to the abstact of the article being discussed. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez....bstract

    Arachidonic Acid

You make some interesting points, #7 of course being a crucial one. (Because -- for better or worse -- lots of people would risk heart disease to get "hyooge".)

    Arachidonic Acid

Doh! Yeah, I glanced at that thread too.

    Arachidonic Acid

A couple of companies are coming out with arachidonic acid (AA) supplements. I just thought I'd start a thread where we could discuss this. The basic idea, as I've seen it described, is AA is released from muscles when they are stretched, and the AA converts to prostaglandins, and this...

Yeah, it's kind of like MCT, but it tastes decent and you can cook with it. That is cool.

    Tea Boosts Immune system 5X

Yeah, totally -- EGCG may be useful for some people under certain circumstances. All I'm saying is that it is good that we're finally getting a clearer picture of which specific chemicals in tea produce which effects.

    Tea Boosts Immune system 5X

Bryan pointed this article out to me... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez....bstract It's just that EGCG seems to have endocrinological effects that may run counter to weightlifting goals -- namely reduced test and LH. Maybe it's useful for weight loss, or as a cancer-fighting aid, but I'd...

    Tea Boosts Immune system 5X

This is really interesting. The active in this case is thought to be l-theanine. I'm happy many of green tea's benefits are attributable to l-theanine, so those of us who are leery of EGCG can avoid it AND enjoy some benefits.

    Molecular-Distilled fish oil...

Thanks for the reply Bryan! (And sorry for the slight topic departure.) Seems like a keto diet that included DAG oil would be a good way to shed weight fast. I'm not really dieting, but out of curiousity I ordered some Enova oil to try. Not much of a flavor to it at all, works just like any...

    Molecular-Distilled fish oil...

Hey Bryan, while you are on the topic of fats... what is your take on DAG oil? It certainly sounds promising. I tried some (Enova brand), and it tastes fine. But I'm more curious about it's functional benefits.

    L-Carnitine?

Yeah, that is such a retro-supplement. Kinda like "gamma oryzanol" or "smilax". Something you might find if you went to Lee Haney's garage sale. This is off-topic, but any of you guys try "Froogle"? (froogle.google.com). You can find just about anything...

    L-Carnitine?

That's the rat study. This one is more recent and the subjects are humans. I agree carnitine hasn't lived up to it's "fat burning" hype. But l-carnitine tartrate is actually pretty cheap from places like Beyond-A-Century. And choline bitartrate is cheap, too. Considering the low doses...

    L-Carnitine?

    Soy and Male Fetal Development

This should be of some interest here... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm....at_soy_ Frankly, I think a lot of radically vegan types would welcome "de-masculinization." (Not to sound like a T-mag contributor.)
