    O/T Where has everyone been

I apologize. I have been stretching my time very thin between a number of jobs. Hopefully things will slow down come spring semester.

    ur thoughts on chromium picolinate

baby a pretty much covered it. Chromium is most effective at increasing insulin sensitivity in people who are chromium deficient.

working out in your home gym

I use an old leather lifting belt I have with a chain that has a clip. The chain is very heavy and the clip is the same you find on a pulldown machine where you attach different bars/handles. Works very well. Just buckle the belt on its loosest hole and string the chain through the front and...

    Benefits from training to faulire

HST does not advocate training to failure because it can interfere with training frequency. Strength recovery requires more time when fatigue is extreme. This does not mean that you will use lighter weight loads than when training to failure. Nor does it mean you will be doing any fewer reps...

    what age

    36. I began my first weight training routine when I was 8 yrs old. I've been using HST since late 1999. I have used every workout method I could find between 1978-1999.

    Couple ?'s maybe common sense?

Yes. 10% isn't much different from flat. What will determine your gains is more a matter of how heavy and when, not so much whether you are flat or at 10% incline. Well, it depends on how "exhausted" your pecs are when you get around to doing bench. Technically you would do a type...

    too simple to start with?

Yeah, you will probably want to do squats first. Everything else looks/sounds fine.

I want to eat 14 egg whites a day.  What are the

As an adult you will not develop an allergy to eggs by eating egg whites. Allergies develop when the digestive tract isn't fully developed and whole proteins (or large peptides) are allowed to pass into the blood stream triggering an allergic reaction. As an adult you don't have to worry about that.

I think I just dicovered my roadblock

I know this thread has pretty much ran its course but I wanted to second what Fausto said. If you are going to train naturally, you must use food (particularly carbs) to improve the anabolic environment.

    Traps

I have to put in a vote for shrugs, including 1 arm dumbbell shrugs. over the years the vertebra in my neck would get pull out of alignment as I leaned forward doing shrugs with a bar. Since then I most often do my shrugs with dumbbells. This assumes you can find dumbbells heavy enough. I also...

    Still doing arm isolations?

I do bis and tris because I do think it is really helpful for most guys when it comes to arm size. In order for big compound lifts like chins and dips to put on good arm size you need to be fairly strong. But hey, who wants to entirely give up curls and tris? Nevertheless, the biggest change...

    Compromising Technique for Load ?

Great comments from everyone. I would like to reemphasize the importance of safety when getting sloppy. Its just not worth risking injury just to do a few short reps with a weight that you can't handle. One the other hand, there are times when it doesn't hurt (no pun intended) to put on a...

Great feedback Rain. Keep us up to date as your cycle progresses.

clear up my mind of HST

Joe G pretty much hit the nail on the head. You need to do as many sets "as is required". This will depend on a number of factors. Basically you will want to start low and then add sets slowly over time until you feel you are doing too much (i.e. excess fatigue and declining strength...

Lower body vs upper body recovery

My thanks to Dan for following up on Hardrock's question. I just want to add that you must "manage" your training in order for it to be most effective. In other words, you must be able to make a few decisions on the fly when things aren't going as planned. So, as you began to feel...

Lower body vs upper body recovery

Fatigue is a function of volume. How much volume (including how many different exercises) are you doing for lower body?

    PowerBlocks

I've got an aluminium set (130lb each) at home. It took a while for me to get used to their look and the fact that they aren't as sturdy as solid bells, but I am very glad that I have them and can use them where space is limited.
