How do you spend your free time?

There was no "off-topic" or "chat" board, so I figured I'd put it here. I just wanted to ask how all of you spend your time between training bouts. I find that I get bored so easily with almost any other activity (save sex, and any kind've fighting/sparring).

Well other than working 50 hours a week and taking care of a wife and children, I spend my non-training time writing, drawing, painting, reading everything I can find and occasionally playing computer games. Once in a while I sleep too.

Well, I'd like to say sleep and watch Southpark all day, but that would be too perfect a world!!!  :D
I'm an I.T. guy, and I mostly do systems analysis and design and actual system development. That's what I end up doing when I'm not training. I also love to write, I've published a cutesy little book already, and I'm also writing for a nice small magazine.
So guys, if there's a lesson in here, it's this: don't become an I.T. guy like me. Instead, get a real job and have a wonderful, "un-boring" life, hehehehe

Watch tv with the wife(we watch a lot of tv), go cycling with the wife, go walking with the wife, go to the movies with my wife. My wife and I do a lot together. She even works out with me 3 days a week. She saw me figuring my HST schedule and said "I wanna do that, can we make me one or is it too late?" We made her a schedule and she does it just like any other work out partnet........except she can't spot me. She is tiny. She weighs less than a hundred lbs and is only about 16% BF.....I can't hardly grab anything to measure with my calipers.

I do nework/atm/vpn support for a fairly large company setting at a pc all day, so you would think I wouldn't want to play on the pc when i get home, but it's just the opposite. i love to fix'em, build'em, and buy parts for'em......even parts i don't need......it's an obsession :)
And grill, i looooooove to grill. I was grilling at 6:30 this morning. i grilled some chicken, tilapia, and turkey breast. I have to fill my lp tank up quite often, but it's worth it not to have to heat up the house in the hot summer.
i like watching NASCAR....yes sir, i might be a redneck!
I guess that's about it.

That sounds exactly like what happened with my wife. She's been my workout partner for a year now. She's only 5ft tall and 98lbs and spots me on everything. She's an athlete for sure.

Other than working out, I am a pretty hardcore PC gamer. I love building and tinkering with electronics, training my German Shepherd, reading, and watching movies.

When I'm not at the gym I normaly sleep alot. I used to play playstation 2 games online but at the minute there isnt a game out that I aint bored of or want. So I'll probibly be back on game in afeiw weeks. I also accasionaly go to the cinemas with friends and just generally socialise with friends. I also like to just sit at my pc and look around on the net and go on msn and listen to music. When I start work it will probibly all change and will more than likely be very bored and tired.

I'd say it depends on what time of year it is! I'm a 19 year old college student so during the summer I work 7 days a week and hang out with my gf and/or friends every night--you know, usual things like heading to the movies, diners (I live in Jersey and love it), parties.
I love to play pickup games of softball because you can incorporate both guys and girls...it's a great summer way to meet chicks and get you in their heads.
A couple of my friends work at a public golf course, so we usually get a party of 4 together and golf 9 holes around 6 PM so the course is not crowded...since you say you are bored, I highly recommend taking up golf--you can never be too good at golf and it's a fun, lifelong sport so consider it just like your weight training!
I love TV shows on FX like Rescue Me, The Shield, Nip/Tuck, etc. Plus, I love Law and Order.
I follow politics like a professional pundit. I don't really identify with a party because it is impossible for me. Economically, I am a pure capitalist and fiscally conservative--so you'd say I'm a Republican, right? At the same time, I disagree with the Republican's increasing reliance on religious zealots, gay bashing and the like, rather than logic, rational thought and economic common sense. So, as far as those infamous "moral values" upon which Bush won re-election, I tend to be more Democratic. Therefore, I am independent of a specific party identity but nonetheless I love to follow politics.
Finally, I love to read. I'm always reading "junk" like Maxim and Car and Driver, but I also explore the intellectual side. I am currently reading "Atlas Shrugged," a huge novel by Ayn Rand...it is incredible and highly philosophical and presents the superiority of pure capitalism.
OF course, if I'm at college you can always find me during the day writing, reading and calculating in order to earn my A's, but at night you can find me playing Halo 2, inviting people to the dorm and partying with the fraternity.
But, like you, I am in love with training and I would sacrifice it for nothing!
I know, I talk too much

See, my problem is that I can't sit still.

You would think that between work, training, and vigorous sex, I'd be exhausted at least for some part of the day. The problem is, I'm not. I used to read before I got so into training. Now it bores me. I'll play games sometimes, but right now my computer is a total douche bag, and the video card refuses to work, so I can't play anything on here.

As for consoles, I can't get into many games too much, and the ones I get into are far and few between. I have no real constant to keep me occupied.

I used to write a lot, due to encouragement from my entire school, because I had such an abstract way of viewing things, so they enjoyed reading things I wrote. That now bores me too.

I guess I'm just stuck with little else in my life, at least for now.

Man, if only I could water ski, sky dive, climb mountains and jump on a trampoline all day...

You should take up this hobby. Watch WWE Raw, monday nights on spike tv at 9, WWE Smackdown, thursday nights at 8(check your local listings), WWE Velocity, saturday nights at 11 on spike tv, WWE Heat on spike tv at 7, on Sundays. Then work for 35 bucks and buy Pay Per Views monthly. There you go, your cure for boredom! :D

Let's see. I'm off for the summer (I teach in the English dept. at a univ. near me), so I have oodles of free time till classes start again mid-August. I spend my free time reading, drawing, watching movies, devouring news on the Internet, playing guitar, and frolicking with my goats. And napping.

J.

I guess I'd better get used to reading and/or taking in something from the news a couple times a day. It's the only thing that'd keep me busy.

Oddly, though, I love sleeping. Not 'cause I'm even tired. I just love dreams. I love escaping from reality. If death is really something like an eternal slumber, where you dream forever, then I can't wait.

Ultimate Frisbee is the bombs yo!

Also, I like to spend my free time helping out the people: food gathering, blood drives etc. Some day I want to bring justice to the planet, kind of like a global Batman. And I do a little bit of Youth Ministry. But in the time that is left, nothing entertains me like throwing around a colored disk.

That's a big part of my summer while at home from school. When I go back to school next month, my life will consist of consumption of alcohol-based liquid carbohydrates and frolicking with women in my bed.

What's this "free time" thing you speak of ?
laugh.gif

I play some action cricket and squash once a week. Squeeze in a round of golf every few months and get dragged down to the soccer pitch by the boss occasionally.
Other than that, I've got a guitar gathering dust that I used to be able to recognize which end was up. I have an 85 Range Rover classic which as anybody who has every owned one will tell you needs a lot of TLC (and yes, I'm stoopid enough to do it myself! )
One day, I WILL have some "free time"
